Arya sat atop her white stallion, gazing out across the land before her. She was looking out from the top of a hill, just outside the gates of the Varden. She missed her home with the elves in the forest, but she was needed here to help the rebellion. She would do all in her power to protect this city and its people, and win the war. If they lost, they were all doomed.
She sighed, brushing back locks of auburn hair that had made its way from her bun. She was tired. Arya had been sleeping less and less, knowing that the battle to the end the entire war was approaching within the next year or so. Hopefully by then they would have enough soldiers trained and enough dragons bred. She glanced sideways at her own dragon, Storm. She was several feet away, laying on the ground with her tail curled around her body. She was resting, after just finished another day of training. Her scales glinted in the sun. Arya smiled.

Sarah rode astride her black horse over top the grassy hill outside the gates of the Varden. Each stride Zen took Sarah sat almost unbelievably still. Yet, if anyone tried they'd be able to also. Spyre flew overhead, watching out for his rider. As the equine started up the hill Sarah received a 'message' from the olive dragon above.
"You've got Company." The sound of a male dragons voice rang in her head. As Zen got to the top, she spotted the company that Spyre had mentioned. Arya. The elven princess was there, upon her ghost white equine. "Arya?" She spoke to her as if it were a question, and without the typical elven ways of greeting. She had only met Arya a few times, never for long either. Sarah's eyes danced to make contact with the dragon. It was a nicely built dragon.
Zen's muscles rippled beneath his black exterior. He snorted pawing the ground. Sarah spoke in a whisper, and the horse obeyed. She took a gloved hand and stroked the animals neck. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, with her bangs sticking out the top. A loose white t-shirt is what covered her torso. Breeches that had many holes in them and were olive colored. She looked back up toward the elf, and waited for a reply.

Arya turned in her saddle, looking behind her. She smiled. "Hello Sarah." She greeted, turning her horse, Winter, around. "How have you been?" She questioned, dismounting her horse and smoothing out the folds of her dress
At the sound of voices, Storm looked up, her dark eyes looking from her rider to Sarah.
About time you talked to someone besides me...
She commented lightly, standing up and stretching. Arya thew her a look, but what the dragon said was true. Arya had been a bit reserved because of her lack of sleep, and had stayed out of the company of others, except Storm of course. She rolled her eyes, but turned her attention back to Sarah.

Sarah listened intently to the womens words. She took a mental note of each one in her mind committing them to memory almost. Her light brown eyes shifted to the dragon a second after Arya's did. Not like Sarah knew what was going on, but she did.
"May I join you?"
The question emitted from Spyre's thoughts, to Sarah's mind. Sarah waited to respond. She answered to Arya next. " I've been, well, I guess. You? Sarah was a bit taken by the elf remembering her name. She felt as if she was important enough to be entered in her memory.
"Yes you may, Spyre."
The olive green beast took a nose dive toward the earths surface. He landed smoothly after such a shaky approach. Sarah looked toward the dragon. His muscles tensed as he felt his rider's stare on him. Sarah looked back toward Arya, waiting for her to speak next.

Arya glanced at Spyre for a moment before turning back to Sarah to speak. "I've been excellent." She replied, smiling.
"Liar."
Arya looked at the dragon, signaling her to shut up. The dragon just gave her a toothy grin, showing her sharp teeth. Arya rolled her eyes, looking back at Sarah. "Okay, I've not been so well. I haven't been sleeping much lately, for I fear that the battle to end this war is approaching, and quickly." She truthfully told Sarah. The elven princess feared for the life of her fellow elves, and anyone on the side of the resistance. Most of all, for the dragons.

Sarah's eyes wandered as Arya spoke to her. She could also tell Arya was communicating with her dragon. She seemed trouled though, like a vibe that the elf gave off. Sarah sat a top Zen growing bored, but stayed still. She tried not to move a lot, or give Arya the sense of boredom. Then the princess mentioned the war and it caught Sarah's attention like a hook catches a fish. Sarah looked at her with a blank stare as she admitted what had not been fine.
"She seemed troubled. I noticed the moment I landed."
Sarah rolled her eyes. "Of course Spyre." She said back to him not taking her stare off of the elf and her horse. She had mentioned a war that Sarah had not thought about, not really known about. She wasn't very up-to-date on things still. Fighting a war, while she was alive. Now that in Sarah's imagination was phisically impossible. "Oh. What's a war like?" Stupid question, but she wanted to know.

Did she really just ask that?
Storm, shut up and go talk a walk or something. Show Spyre around if you want or something. Arya sighed in response to her dragon, pondering how to answer the girl's question. "A war is where two different kinds of people, in this case the Resistance and the Empire, fight until one loses and one wins. We want to win, because that means most of our troubles will be gone and we can go back to living like normal." Arya replied, hoping she answered Sarah's question.
Storm rolled her eyes and stretched, flapping her wings once or twice. Even from where Arya stood, she oculd feel the slight breeze. She sighed aloud.

She listened intently. Finding out what it was, was useless she had known what a war was. Everyone crazy enought to survive did. Sarah shook her had with disagreement. " No. No. No. I know what it is. I wanted to know what it's like to be in it. I haven't lived as long as you." It was disrespectful to say to an elf, and she knew that. Her point wouldn't get across any othr way though.

"Oh." She murmured. "Well, I suppose you could call it violent. And bloody. The battles I've been in have never turned out good." She explained.
Since when are battles ever good?
Storm, shut up. Now. Arya said to her dragon, folding her arms across her chest. "I warn you now. If the Empire ever reaches this city, you'll know what it feels like."

Sarah listened once again. Commiting each word to memory she did and violent... that was an obvious word to use. Of course. But Sarah gave up asking. "Oh." If they reached the Varden. Hm. So the keyt was not to let them reach us. That's easy enough. Sarah thoughs were projected onto Spyre mind too.
"That's it little one. We need to keep them away."
Sarah though. She looked at through Zen's ears. He was half asleep. "Is there anything we can do to help"We meaning Sarah and Spyre.
